Amelie Mauresmo disappointed home fans again at Roland Garros by losing in three sets today to Ana Ivanovic, a rising star from Serbia & Montenegro.

Mauresmo, seeded third, has carried the hopes of France in recent years but has yet to seriously challenge for the crown, although she did reach the quarter-finals in each of the last two years.

She came into this year’s event with former men’s champion Yannick Noah having recently joined her team as a mentor, and he was in the stands of the Philippe Chatrier Court to watch Ivanovic claim a 6-4 3-6 6-4 win.
