Tennis star Hewitt to be a dad

Australian tennis star Lleyton Hewitt and his 21-year-old girlfriend, actress Rebecca Cartwright, are expecting a baby, a television network reported today.

Channel Seven reported Cartwright, who appears on the Australian soap opera Home and Away – which is carried by the same network – was three months’ pregnant.

The report said the couple planned to make a formal announcement about the pregnancy on Monday in New Idea, an Australian gossip magazine.

The couple became engaged in January when Hewitt proposed to Cartwright following his defeat in the Australian Open tennis final.

A wedding date has not been announced, but the pair have reportedly purchased a multi-million pound home along one of Sydney’s northern beaches.

Both Cartwright and Hewitt ended long-term relationships shortly before their engagement.

Hewitt had been engaged to Belgian tennis player Kim Clijsters before that four-year relationship ended last October. Cartwright split with actor-boyfriend Beau Brady late last year.
