Belgium’s former world number one Justine Henin-Hardenne will face second seed Elena Dementieva, of Russia, in the final of the Family Circle Cup in South Carolina.

Henin-Hardenne is one win away from her first title since last year’s Olympics after beating 13th seed Tatiana Golovin, of France, 7-6 (7-4) 7-5.

The 22-year-old is playing in just her second tournament since last year’s US Open after recovering from a viral illness and a knee injury.

She fell to Russian Maria Sharapova in the quarter-finals of the Nasdaq-100 in her only previous event of 2005.

Dementieva recovered from a slow start to beat eighth-seeded Patty Schnyder, of Switzerland, 3-6 6-4 6-0 and reach her first final of the year.
