Roger Federer silenced the home fans by beating Andre Agassi 6-4 6-3 in the semi-finals of the Nasdaq-100 Open in Miami.

The world number one broke the American in the 10th game of the opening set to take control of the match.

Federer was in trouble at 0-40 in the seventh game of the second set but hit three aces to win the game and then broke the ninth seed in the eighth game.

It was his seventh consecutive win over Agassi in ATP tournaments and he will face Rafael Nadal in the final.

“I played great from the baseline and had great focus, it was a tough match,” said Federer. “I am looking forward to that match (against Nadal) and it’s going to be a totally different match.”

Nadal booked his place in the final by winning the all-Spanish semi against David Ferrer 6-4 6-3.

The 18-year-old extended his winning streak to 15 matches by defeating the unseeded Ferrer.

“I am not scared for the final,” Nadal said. “I will try to play my best tennis. I won the last two tournaments which is important for my confidence.”
