Rheinisch 21st in standings
K1 canoeist Eion Rheinisch struggled during his first run and is currently 21st in the standings, 14.03secs behind leader Campbell Walsh of the UK.
Meanwhile, Ireland’s lightweight coxless fours team of Richard Archibald, Eugene Coakley, Niall O’Toole and Paul Griffin clinched their place in Sunday’s final earlier this morning.
The quartet finished third in a time of five minutes 58.89 seconds to progress.
But Sam Lynch and Gearóid Towey had to settle for a place in the men’s lightweight double sculls B final.
The duo finished fourth in heat two, recording a time of 6mins 19.09secs, which means they cannot win a medal.
