The lawyer acting for Kostas Kenteris and Katerina Thanou has asked for a 48-hour delay to enable the stricken Greek sprinters to attend an IOC disciplinary hearing.

Kenteris and Thanou missed a drugs test at the Games Village last Thursday and later that night suffered injuries in a motorcycle accident.

The duo have been in hospital since and their lawyer Michalis Dimitrakapoulos’ request for a 48-hour delay is being considered by the three-man disciplinary commission.

Dimitrakapoulos told the commission that the athletes’ condition is improving but that Kenteris is still complaining of headaches and Thanou has got a sore groin.

International Olympic Committee officials are now waiting for a medical update on the pair although they have ruled out visiting the them in hospital to conduct interviews.
