Serena shows strength to beat Foretz

Champion Serena Williams showed today she is in no mood to give up her All England Club crown without a fight, winning 6-0, 6-4 against Stephanie Foretz.

After breezing through the opening set of her second-round clash with Foretz 6-0 in just 21 minutes on court one, Williams suddenly found herself 3-1 and break point down.

However, Williams then brought the game back to deuce twice before then firing an ace to win the fifth game.

It proved to be a pivotal moment as she then forced a break of serve to level the second set at 4-4 and kept the pressure on Foretz, whose double fault in the 10th game handed Williams a victory chance.

A thrilling rally followed, before Foretz put a backhand return into the net and Williams was left to celebrate a 6-0 6-4 win.
