Moya pulls Spain level
Spain's Carlos Moya levelled the 2003 Davis Cup final at one rubber each with a four-set victory over Australian top seed Mark Philippoussis.
Moya had not played on grass for more than two years but adapted impressively to the temporary surface at the Rod Laver Arena to beat this year's Wimbledon finalist 6-4 6-4 4-6 7-6 (7/4).
"I start to like grass now," he joked immediately afterwards.
The final heads into Saturday's doubles rubber tied at one-all after Lleyton Hewitt overcame Juan-Carlos Ferrero in five sets.
Australia, led to the title by Philippoussis in 1999, are looking for revenge against the Spaniards who beat them in the 2000 final at the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona.
