Top seed goes through to semi-finals

Both John Doran and Conor Taylor were able to fulfil their quarter-final obligations prior to the downpour.

Doran, Irish Number two and top seed here, continued his so far successful pursuit of back-to-back titles with a straight sets victory over Neil Fagan.

But for Colin O' Brien, the surprise package in this years competion, his fairytale came to an end with Conor Taylor the victor on a 7-5, 6-2 scoreline.

The rain then came down with the two womens semi-finals subsequently moved to the nearby Riverview indoor complex.

Gina Niland a five times winner, defeated Emma Heffernan on a 6-1,6-1 scoreline while Fed Cup ace, Elsa O Riain, had things slightly harder before triumphing on a 6-4, 6-1 scoreline over Aoife O' Neill.

The other two mens quarter-finals meanwhile continued at Donnybrook in the rain with the heavy conditions with last years runner-up Conor Niland defeating Gary Kildufff on a 6-4, 6-2 scoreline.

And the final four pairing was completed when Stephen Taylor defeated David O Connell 6-2, 6-2 .
