Scottish skier Alain Baxter has been stripped of the bronze medal he won at the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City earlier this year.

The International Olympic Committee announced today that Baxter was found guilty of a doping offence after testing positive for a banned stimulant.

The IOC said Baxter was disqualified from the Olympics and forfeited the bronze medal he won in the slalom event, becoming the third athlete to be stripped of a medal for drug offences in Salt Lake City.

The IOC added that the International Ski Federation has responsibility to consider further sanctions, including a possible two-year ban from the sport.
