The Frenchwoman is making a return to the circuit after injury and illness affected her 2001 season.

Pierce is set for her first appearance at a Grand Slam event since reaching the third round of the Australian Open in 2001.

She pulled out of the US Open this year with lower back problems.

Pierce was Australian Open singles champion in 1995 and a finalist in 1997.
