Top seed Monica Seles continued the defence of her US Indoors title in Oklahoma with a 6-3 6-4 quarter-final triumph over fellow American Alexandra Stevenson.

Seles is taking part in her first event since losing to Jennifer Capriati in the Australian Open quarter-finals and could face the same player in Sunday's final.

Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia caused the only upset of the day as she eliminated third seed and twice finalist Amanda Coetzer of South Africa 7-6 (7-0) 3-6 6-0, to reach the quarter-finals.

Fifth seed Lisa Raymond beat fellow American Dawn Buth 6-3 6-0 in 66 minutes to set up a quarter-final meeting with Capriati.
