Charles Haughey's grandniece competes at the Olympics, for Hong Kong!
For Hong Kong.
And she is the first Hong Kong swimmer to compete at the Olympics in 64 years.
A student in the University of Michigan, Siobhan Bernadette Haughey touched the wall in 1:56.91 in her 200m freestyle heat, smashing her own Hong Kong record.
The 18-year old advanced no further however as she finished 6th with a time of 1:57.56 in the fine margins that are semi-final Olympics.
Her Irish father Darach is the nephew of the three-time Taoiseach and her first cousin once removed, TD Sean Haughey, has been restlessly tweeting his support from Ireland.

Charlie Haughey had a notable sporting career of his own, included of a county title with Parnells in 1945 as well as coaching Stephen Roche to the Tour de France.
No doubt he would have been proud of his grandniece as she competed in Rio 2016.
Now all we need to do is get a transfer in place ahead of Tokyo 2020!
