Merveldt misery

There was heartache yesterday for dressage rider, Anna Merveldt, who missed out on progressing by one place.

Thirty-two riders contest Tuesday’s grand prix special, but 49-year-old Merveldt and Coryolano finished 33rd.

“I’m not feeling good at the moment,” she said, “but I’m going to stick around, as I’m third on the reserve list. While I wouldn’t wish any misfortune on anybody, you just never know,” said Merveldt, who is already looking to Rio de Janeiro.
