Katie Taylor arrives in London today — well in advance of her bid for Olympic glory, which begins on August 5 when she will enter the inaugural women’s boxing tournament at the quarter-final stages, with a guaranteed bronze medal for the winner.

The four-time world champion was yesterday handed the honour of carrying the Irish flag in Friday night’s opening ceremony before hundreds of millions of viewers worldwide.

News that she will be the flag bearer and confirmation that she will arrive at the Olympic Village later today was welcomed last night.
