Britton aims for glory

Fionnuala Britton will go to the line tomorrow as gold medal favourite for the European Championship swomen’s 10,000m in Helsinki.

While others in the field have run faster previously, her 31:29.22 makes her the fastest European this year going into tomorrow’s race. Ana Dulce Felix (Portugal) will be back to challenge her but Felix has not run a 10,000m this season. British distance runner, Jo Pavey, could pose a greater challenge, while Germany’s Sabrina Mockenhaupt and Nadia Ejjafini, of Italy are other contenders.
