Breen on the charge in Sweden

Irish driver, Craig Breen (22) is second in the S-WRC registered competitors at Rally Sweden after yesterday’s nine stages.

He trails category rival, PG Andersson (Proton Satria) — on home ground — by two minutes and 7.7 seconds. The Waterford ace managed to beat Andersson on the fourth stage and later in the afternoon, moved into second of the S-WRC contenders.

Breen, who spun on SS9, is 16th in general classification. Wexford’s Eamonn Boland (Mitsubishi) is 40th overnight.

Overall, Jari Matti Latvala (Ford) leads the Citroen of Mikko Hirvonen by 17.2 seconds with Petter Solberg and his Irish co-driver, Chris Patterson (Ford) 2.8 seconds further behind in third.
