Cycling chief wants help, not criticism

WORLD cycling chief Pat McQuaid has called for more support from the World Anti Doping Agency following comments by WADA president John Fahey which placed doubt on cycling’s future at the Olympics.

WADA chief Fahey said on Monday that cycling was among several sports, including weightlifting, that risked their Olympic futures if they continued to be plagued by doping.

McQuaid, speaking a day after it was announced that Spanish cyclist Maria Isobel Moreno had tested positive for the blood-booster EPO, admitted that cycling has been left with an unwelcome legacy.
