McBride taunts Tyson

IRISH boxer Kevin ‘The Clones Colossus’ McBride has threatened to “knock Mike Tyson out” in their June bout.

“Once I beat Mike Tyson I’m going to shock the world,” the Monaghan native said yesterday.

“I’m going to be a contender instead of a pretender,” he vowed. McBride has been sparring with Terrance Lewis at Petronelli’s Gym in Boston, where he’s preparing for his June 11 bout against Tyson.

The 32-year-old Ulster man boasts an impressive 34-4-1 record, which includes 27 knockouts. He hopes to increase that to 28 when he takes on the former heavyweight world champion.

“I’m gonna take the fight to him,” he vowed.

“I’m gonna knock Mike Tyson out and prove that I’m a legitimate heavyweight.

“When I hit Mike Tyson he’ll think all of Ireland has hit him. He’s in the way of my dream. Now is my time to shine.”

Tyson has fought 57 times with 50 wins, 44 by knockout.
