Walsh to carry torch at Paralympics

Irish Paralympic athlete Catherine Walsh, from Swords in Dublin, is one of the athletes that will carry the torch around the stadium prior to the lighting of the Olympic flame at tomorrow night's opening ceremony in Athens.

Gary Messitt, a 17-year old soccer player from Bray, has been chosen to be the Irish flag bearer.

"I've no words to describe it accurately. I'm delighted, honoured and extremely proud to carry the flag on this important occasion," the Wicklow man said.
