Browne wins stage in Malaysia

AUSTRALIAN Graeme Browne won yesterday’s first stage of the Telekom Malaysia Le Tour de Langkawi.

Browne, who won a gold medal at the Olympics in Athens, proved to be the fastest finisher of a group that avoided the mayhem of a crash that disrupted the main field.

Páidí O’Brien proved best of the seven man Irish team and finished in 44th position. Seán Lacey suffered mechanical trouble and came in at the rear of the main field Paul Healion’s race is over as he finished outside the time limit.
