McKiernan wins 10-mile title

Catherina McKiernan successfully defended her Adidas Frank Duffy 10-mile title, shaving 1:20 of her 2003 winning time in Dublin on Saturday.

“It was good, hard run today, ideal conditions really, fresh but not too warm. I was really happy with my form, and it is a good introduction for me into the cross country season, which is getting underway now,” she said of her 56:10 time.

Dubliner Peter Matthews of Dundrum South Dublin club was the first home in 50:16. A record 1550 runners took part in the race in the Phoenix Park, over 500 more than last year.
