Top Australian cyclist killed on training ride

A TRAINING ride accident left one cyclist dead and five more critically or seriously injured, devastating the Australian women’s team.

Amy Gillett, 29, was killed when she was hit head-on by a car while on a training ride with her team-mates near the town of Zeulenroda, in eastern Germany.

All six riders in the group were in the collision which occurred as they were preparing for the Tour of Thuringen, Germany's major race for women cyclists.
