Hogan wins award

Twenty-year-old Patrick Hogan from Killiney, Co Dublin has been nominated as August’s Young Racing Driver of the Month.

He joins Charlie Donnelly (April), Eoin Murray (May), Emmet Queenan (June) and Richard Kearney (July) in the race to scoop the Dunlop Sexton Young Racing Driver of the Year award, which carries a first prize of €32,000.

Hogan was selected for last month’s award following his results in the UK Formula Renault Championship in Knockhill where he finished seventh and 12th from 25 starters in each race.

Brands Hatch followed where he finished 11th and 14th from 24 and 27 respectively.

Since then he has scored a second place finish in the latest round of the series at Snetterton, Norfolk earlier this month.
