ANTOINE BURKE will relaunch his international career as part of the men's 4 x 400m team at the European championships in Munich next month.

A former national high jump champion he won a silver medal in that event at the world junior championships in Lisbon back in 1994 he took bronze in Sunday's 400m final at the national championships.

He was always a keen all-rounder and his father Jerry was convinced he would end up as a decathlete: "He would always cross-train. He was a 7.40 long jumper and he was pretty good at the hurdles and strong enough for the throws. Maybe the pole vault might have been a problem."
