Money talk puts Americans in the Ryder Cup rough

The opening foursomes are still two days away, but the home team already feels one-down in the public relations department.
In case you’ve been lost in the rough, the American players and captain will be receiving $500,000 each for participating in this week’s Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black. Of that sum, 60 percent is earmarked to charities of the player’s choice and the remaining $200,000 is theirs to do with as they choose.
