Rory McIlroy fires himself into contention at Scottish Open with Friday 65

The Masters champion's five-under-par round - which included six birdies - and minus-seven total means he is four adrift of Chris Gotterup.

Rory McIlroy carded a 65 on Friday to fire himself into contention at the Scottish Open.

McIlroy's steady two-under par Thursday meant a big second-round score was needed to jumpstart his attack at the Renaissance Club, and he duly delivered.
