The sleepiest PGA Championship in recent memory rustled awake late Saturday afternoon at Quail Hollow Club. Then world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler smothered the life out of it.

With a closing kick befitting the best player in the world, Scheffler played the last five holes of his third round in 5-under par to turn a one-shot deficit into a three-shot lead that seemed much wider than that.
