A first mud ball of the week left a late smudge on his card but Tom McKibbin now has all weekend in Charlotte to find stain remover after extending his PGA Championship debut at Quail Hollow.

The Belfast man comfortably made the cut with a steady-as-she-goes 71 which left him on 1-under overall, easily inside the top 40 and seven off surprise clubhouse leader Jhonattan Vegas just as his four Irish compatriots were heading out in the Friday afternoon wave.
