Pádraig Harrington still testing Father Time with impressive Open fight

Every golfer other than the winner would have left Royal Troon with regrets and Pádraig Harrington was no different in that.

Plenty of focus fell on the golden oldies and former champions earlier in the week. Not all of it good. The question was asked, again, if yesterday’s men really should be accommodated at the majors years after their best and at the expense of stars of tomorrow.

The withdrawals of Ernie Els and John Daly only added to the argument for a new broom. So did performances from Tiger Woods and Todd Hamilton who sat at 16-over and 20-over respectively after two rounds and never got within an asses’ roar of the cut.
