Moving day at The Open lived up to its billing with all manner of snakes and ladders played across the board and overnight leader Shane Lowry slithering off the summit in the worst conditions seen all week.

The 37-year old’s hopes of claiming a second Open Championship were hit by a drip-drip of lost shots in saturating and sapping conditions, but his torturous six-over round of 77 leaves him on one-under par and just three shots off the lead heading into the last day.
