R&A still hoping to keep escalating prize money in check

The 2024 Champion Golfer of the Year will still receive the highest reward in The Open’s history.

The Open Championship has had its challenges. There was a time when too many American golfers made the cross-Atlantic trip kicking and screaming. Or not at all. Now the grand old tournament’s place in the calendar has shifted with the US PGA rerooting deeper into the summer.
