The last place anyone expected to find world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler on Friday afternoon was riding the cut line.
For the first time in 72 career major championship rounds of golf, Scheffler failed to make a single birdie on Friday. He did however make two bogeys and a double, shooting 74 and falling to 5-over at the U.S. Open and in significant danger of his first cut anywhere since 2022.
