Lowry and Power earn weekend place with solid finish at Sawgrass
Lowry birdied three of his last five holes to keep himself in the field for the weekend.
While neither Shane Lowry nor Séamus Power could muster the low score they hoped could lift them into contention, both Irishman did what they needed to earn a weekend working for a piece of the $25 million U.S. Players Championship purse.
Lowry fought back from outside the cut line with three birdies in his last five holes on the front side to shoot 70, while Power posted 69 despite a missed 5-footer for par on the 18th to each finish at 3-under (141) through 36 holes at the TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course.
