Fresh from the success of the Oppenheimer, director Christopher Nolan opted to quote a line from his previous film, Tenet, when asked about the complexities of his work: 'Don't try to understand it, feel it.'

The Ryder Cup is a bit like that. The tournament’s importance is generally justified by the fact that both teams evidently value it. It is true that we see physical manifestations of how much players appear to care about it, but when they are asked to articulate why it verges from corporate-speak to vagaries and occasionally comes across as a bit cringeworthy.
