Shane Lowry’s best opening round in almost three months marked a welcome return to form on the opening day of the Horizon Irish Open at the K Club yesterday.

Two bogeys in his final three holes wasn’t enough to ruin Lowry’s day as he opened with a promising four-under 68, his brightest beginning since a first day 64 at the Travelers Championship in June and alongside his Masters start his joint second best of the year.
