Shane Lowry’s frank reaction to a bad golf shot prompted an apology when it was picked up by microphones and broadcast to viewers.

The Offaly native was playing in the Honda Classic in Florida and was understandably annoyed when a shot of his went into the water.

Never one to mince his words, he reacted by calling himself a ‘f***ing idiot’.

Watching cameras picked up his outburst and the commentator apologised for the bad language.

Lowry wasn’t remotely bothered by it though.

So I said a bad word.... Shoot me!
