American Ryder Cup star Patrick Reed has clarified his decision to pull out of next week’s Irish Open and the BMW PGA Championship.

Reed initially cited “family reasons” for his late withdrawal from Wentworth and told the Golf Channel on Tuesday he did not wish to travel across the Atlantic due to a family member being terminally ill.
