Former world number one Tiger Woods lamented an "awful" short game after carding an opening five-over-par 77 on his much-anticipated comeback at the Hero World Challenge on Thursday.

The 38-year-old has been out since failing to make the cut at the PGA Championship in August, having struggled to get back into shape following surgery on a pinched nerve in his back earlier in the year.
