Zach Johnson celebrates hole-in-one in crowd-pleasing style
Martin Kaymer’s early charge to the top of the leaderboard meant there was actually less attention than usual paid to the US Open, especially on the final day. Probably compounded by some football matches getting a fair amount of attention over the weekend too.
But it would be a shame if Zach Johnson’s hole-in-one on the 9th yesterday went unnoticed.
It was a fabulous shot, hitting the green and rolling to the hole as if pulled by magnet.
Even better than the shot, was Johnson’s reaction. Not content with the standard wave of his cap and fistbump with his caddy, he also decided to celebrate with the crowd, running over to the spectators and high-fiving many of them.
Great to see someone really enjoy their sport. The 38-year-old American golfer is a one-time major winner, the 2007 Masters. This was only the second ever hole-in-one at this course.
