Clarke to play on US tour

Former Open champion Darren Clarke will use the exemption gained from his victory at Royal St George’s in 2011 to rejoin the US PGA Tour next year.

Clarke, who is exempt until 2016, said in a statement released by his management company ISM: “I will be taking up my US PGA Tour card next season, but that does not mean I am abandoning Europe. I will be supporting my home Tour as usual.
