Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley is assured of a major say in who succeeds him for the 2016 match against the United States after European team chiefs announced an overhaul of the selection process.

McGinley will be joined by Jose Maria Olazabal and Colin Montgomerie, plus the European Tour chief executive and a tournament committee representative, to reach a decision in early 2015, after Ryder Cup Europe decided the last three captains should play a key role in determining the man to lead the team.
