South African Branden Grace, a three-time winner on the European Tour this season, and American Spencer Levin have earned the final two exempt spots in this week’s US Open.

The pair made it by climbing into the world’s top 60, but the fact they were the only two means three players who just missed out on qualifying have also been called into the field.

They are Americans Justin Hicks, Kyle Thompson and Colt Knost, whose victory in the 2007 US Amateur came at the Olympic Club in San Francisco where the year’s second major takes place.
