Matt Every shot a new course record to take a three-shot lead after the opening round of the Valero Texas Open last night.

The 28-year-old American lit up TPC San Antonio with a flawless nine-under-par 63 to break the previous course mark, held by Ryan Palmer and Scott Piercy in 2010, by a single stroke.
