Olazabal takes surprise lead

Ryder Cup captain Jose Maria Olazabal, 596th in the world and without a win for seven years, shared the lead after starting his final round of the volvo Golf Champions with two birdies at Fancourt in South Africa today.

Olazabal, who has already ruled out playing against the Americans in Chicago in September, was by some distance the lowest-ranked player in the 35-man winners-only field.

But he was on 10 under par with South African trio Retief Goosen, Masters champion Charl Schwartzel and Branden Grace, with Belgian Nicolas Colsaerts - joint overnight leader with Grace - one behind after bogeying the first.

Irish golfer Padraig Harrington, playing with Olazabal, was four behind in joint seventh after bogeying the second.
