Scott Jamieson and Ross Fisher bagged the first point for the GB&I team after thrashing Peter Hanson and Raphaël Jacquelin, six-and-four.

Simon Dyson and Jamie Donaldson enjoyed a two-and-one victory over Miguel Angel Jimenez and Pablo Larrazabal.

McGinley's team are leading in two of the matches still out on course, but the only silver-lining so far for Continental Europe has come from Anders Hansen and Francesco Molinari, who are one-up against Mark Foster and Lee Westwood.
