Australia’s Matthew Millar teed off in the third round of the Open at Royal St George’s in joint-last position – but still only seven shots off the lead.

The 34-year-old from Canberra was first man out on his own at 8.55am in windy and rainy conditions, a far cry from yesterday morning’s sunny and calm weather.

With the cut coming at three over Millar was the 71st and final person to make it in last night.

He negotiated the first safely, two-putting from the back edge of the green for par.

Northern Ireland’s Darren Clarke and American Lucas Glover, who top the leaderboard on four under, do not tee off until 3.05pm.
