Lowry in the mix in Majorca
Ireland’s Shane Lowry shot a third-round seven-under-par 63 to move into contention at the Iberdrola Open in Majorca today.
Lowry shot six birdies, an eagle on the par-five sixth and a bogey as he moved 28 places up the leaderboard, but was still four shots adrift of leader Chris Wood.
The Englishman birdied the first hole and was one under through eight to sit nine under for the tournament.
Lowry shared second place with Northern Ireland’s Darren Clarke, who was level par through eight. Clarke responded to dropping two shots in his first three holes with back-to-back birdies at the fifth and sixth.
England’s David Lynn was also level par having played seven and sat a shot further back, ahead of a group of four on three under.
They included Spain’s Jose Maria Olazabal, three under through 14, France’s Gregory Bourdy, three under through 16, and Scottish pair Paul Lawrie, level par through nine, and Scott Jamieson, one under after 11.
