Casey wins award

Paul Casey has won the European Tour Shot of the Month award for January for a 265-yard five-wood to eight feet during his Volvo Champions win in Bahrain.

It came on the opening day at the Royal Club and set up an eagle three at the par five ninth hole.

Second was Charl Schwartzel’s near-perfect bunker shot on the 13th hole of his final round as he successfully defended the Joburg Open, while Martin Kaymer took third for his recovery from the desert sand in his retention of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.
