Phil Mickelson equalled a Ryder Cup record at Celtic Manor today – but not one he wanted.

By losing twice with Dustin Johnson the world number two now has 16 defeats in his cup career and that matches the American record of Ray Floyd.

And Mickelson still had two more games to come on his record-equalling eighth appearance for his country in the competition.
